General Questions

Question 1. What is a Catch the Ace raffle?

The Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation’s Catch the Ace Raffle is one of the first provincial online version of a popular raffle.

Catch the Ace is a progressive jackpot, multiple-draw, weekly raffle in which ticketholders have the chance to win a Weekly Cash Prize and the Catch the Ace Progressive Jackpot.

Question 2. How does the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation’s Catch the Ace Raffle work?

  1. Select and purchase your tickets to the weekly draw
  2. Select a card that will be revealed if you are the winner of the weekly draw.
  3. If your card is the Ace of Spades – You’ve WON the progressive jackpot as well as the weekly jackpot.
  4. If you did not have the Ace of Spades you are still the weekly draw winner, and the progressive jackpot keeps growing until the Ace of Spades is drawn.
  5. If the Ace of Spades is not drawn, tickets will become available for the following week’s draw beginning at 5:00 PM each Tuesday, following the previous weekly draw.

Tickets prices are:

  • 3 tickets for $10
  • 10 tickets for $25
  • 50 tickets for $50
  • 125 tickets for $100

Weekly draws continue until the Ace of Spades is caught and the Progressive Jackpot is won!

Question 3. Who is eligible to play Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation’s Catch the Ace?

  • A ticket purchaser must be 18 years of age or older to enter the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation’s Catch the Ace Raffle.
  • A ticket purchaser must be located in Ontario at the time of ticket purchase

Question 4. How are the weekly prize and progressive jackpot determined and won?

The playing card hidden in the envelope that goes along with the winning ticket will be revealed. The ticket purchaser with the winning ticket will receive 20% of total ticket sales from the week leading up to the draw.

If the playing card revealed is the Ace of Spades, the winner will also receive the Catch the Ace Progressive Jackpot. This jackpot is 30% of all weekly ticket sales collected up until the Ace of Spades is revealed. When the Ace of Spades is revealed, the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation’s Catch the Ace Raffle is complete.

Question 5. When are the deadlines for the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation’s Catch the Ace Raffle ticket sales?

Tickets will become available for the next week’s draw beginning at 8:00am each Monday, following the previous weekly draw.

Question 6. Is every part of the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation’s Catch the Ace Raffle managed through a digital platform?

All aspects of the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation’s Catch the Ace Raffle are managed using a digital platform, or software program, that has been approved by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario. This program is similar to the one present at professional hockey and basketball games in Ontario.

There are no paper tickets generated during this raffle.

Question 7. What are the odds of winning in the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation’s Catch the Ace Raffle?

The odds of winning a Weekly Prize draw depend on the number of tickets in the draw. There is no limit to the number of tickets that can be sold. The odds of selecting the envelope containing the Ace of Spades begins at 1 in 52 and these odds improve with each weekly removal of envelopes containing a card other than the Ace of Spades.

Question 8. What percentage of the raffle proceeds go to the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation?

Fifty percent of all raffle proceeds are retained by the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation to support local cancer care.

Question 9. What is the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation’s Catch the Ace Raffle Licence Number?

The Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation’s Catch the Ace Raffle licence number is listed on the bottom of the website, as provided by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario.

Digital Tickets and Envelopes

Question 1. Where can I buy Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation’s Catch the Ace Raffle tickets?

Tickets may only be purchased online. Click here to order now! Tickets will be delivered via email only.

Question 2. How much do Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation’s Catch the Ace Raffle tickets cost?

Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation’s Catch the Ace Raffle offers the following ticket bundles

  • 3 tickets for $10
  • 10 tickets for $25
  • 50 tickets for $50
  • 125 tickets for $100

Question 3. Can I buy tickets that qualify for more than one weekly draw?

No. Tickets may only be purchased for the upcoming weekly draw. Ticket subscriptions and multiple week purchases are not permitted by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, at this time.

Question 4. Why is there a limit to the number of ticket bundles I can buy?

While there is no limit to the number of tickets you may buy, the raffle program has a limit of fifteen bundles per order (five of each bundle). If you would like to order more bundles, a separate order is required.

Question 5. Can I order a ticket if I do not live in Ontario?

Ticket purchasers must be in the province of Ontario at the time of their purchase, and must allow the website access to your location.

Question 6. Who is NOT eligible to purchase Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation’s Catch the Ace Raffle tickets?

The following persons are prohibited from purchasing Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation’s Catch the Ace Raffle tickets:

  • Members of the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation’s Board of Directors and Cabinet
  • Full-time, part-time and student employees of the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation
  • Persons who are directly on the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation’s payroll
  • Employees of registered gaming suppliers
  • Employees of sponsors and advertising partners
  • Immediate family members who reside at the same household address as those listed above

Question 7. Why do I have to select one of the remaining digital envelopes?

Each of the digital envelopes contains a hidden playing card and the Catch the Ace progressive jackpot will be won by the ticket holder who wins the weekly prize draw and selects the envelope containing the Ace of Spades. Every ticket order must include a selected envelope.

Question 8. Can I select an envelope for each ticket in my order or one envelope for each order?

No. One envelope is selected for each ticket order. Players wishing to select multiple envelopes can place several ticket orders and select a different envelope for each order.

Winners

Question 1. How will winners be notified?

All winners will be notified by telephone and/or email as to their win and how to claim their prize. All winning ticket numbers and prize amounts will be posted on www.catchtheaceottawa.ca by 5:00pm every Monday.

Prizes will be awarded to the registered ticket buyer.

Question 2. How do I claim my prize?

All winners will receive a telephone call and email with instructions on how to claim their prize. Prizes must be claimed within six (6) months of the prize draw.

Question 3. Will my name be publicized if I am a winner?

In accordance with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) regulations, winner information must be collected and provided to the AGCO, including ticket number, full name and contact information.

Winner information will also be published to the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation’s Catch the Ace Raffle website. By claiming a prize, winner consents to the use of their likeness/photograph, first and last name, ticket number, city/town of residence and the audio/video recording (or written transcription) of the winner notification telephone call, for any publicity purposes by the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation. Winner information may be released to the news/media and may be used in advertising for the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation or the Catch the Ace Raffle

Technical Issues or Questions

Question 1. I cannot access Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation’s Catch the Ace website. What should I do?

Ensure you have enabled “Device Location Services” on your electronic device.

Per AGCO regulations – you must be located within the province of Ontario at the time of your ticket purchase. Your device’s location services must be turned on to verify your location prior to entry to the online Catch the Ace sales platform. Users must also agree to all Terms and Conditions outlined.

Question 2. Why does the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation’s Catch the Ace website require my location?

Per AGCO regulations – you must be located within the province of Ontario at the time of your ticket purchase. Your current location will confirm your eligibility.

Question 3. What if I already selected "Don't Allow"?

Reloading the page should prompt you to share your location again. If you have specified that you never want to share your location, you will need to go into your settings to allow.

Question 4. I am trying to order my ticket. Why isn't it going through?

You must be located in the province of Ontario when ordering a ticket. Please ensure your location services are enabled so your location can be confirmed by the raffle program.

Question 5. Why haven't I received my ticket confirmation email?

Your email might have been diverted to your junk, spam or promotions folder. Please check those folders first and once you locate the email, mark this as "not junk" or a safe sender so subsequent emails will be directed to your inbox.

Ensure you have enabled Device Location Services on your electronic device

iOS Mobile Devices

  1. Go to the Settings App.
  2. Go to ‘Privacy’.
  3. Go into ‘Location Services’.
  4. Ensure ‘Location Services’ are on.
  5. Scroll down and click ‘Safari Websites’.
  6. Make sure that Allow Location Access is set to "While Using the App."

*Chrome has the same setting if you are using that instead

MacOS Desktop

Check if Location Services is turned on

  1. Open ‘System Preferences’
  2. Select ‘Security & Privacy’
  3. Select ‘Privacy’ tab
  4. Ensure ‘Location Services’ is checked
  5. If it is not checked click the lock icon in bottom right corner of that window to make changes
  6. Enter in your username and password
  7. Check the ‘Enable Location Services’ checkbox
  8. If it is checked, look at the list of allowed applications and make sure the web browser you are using is also checked. Note that Chrome will not show up here, but Safari and Firefox will.

If Locations is on, you may have previously blocked the www.ottawacancerlottery.ca site from using locations. To Unblock it:

Mac Safari

  1. Go to www.ottawacancerlottery.ca
  2. From the Top Browser Menu select Safari-Settings for this website
  3. In the Pop Up under Location select ‘Allow’

Android Based Smart Phones

Check if location services is turned on

  1. Go to ’Settings’ App
  2. Go to ‘Location’ and make sure that it is on.
  3. This can vary by version or smartphone model
  4. On most Android Phones you can also pull down from the top of the screen to show several clickable settings, ‘Location’ is usually available there also.

If Locations is on, you may have previously blocked the www.ottawacancerlottery.ca site from using locations. To Unblock it:

  1. Open Chrome
  2. Click on the three vertical dots in the top right corner
  3. Select ‘Settings’
  4. Under ‘Advanced’ select ‘Site Settings’
  5. Select ‘Location’
  6. Upper right, click the magnifying glass
  7. Type Catch the Ace Ottawa Cancer
  8.  If it appears in the search results click it
  9. Click the ‘Clear & Reset’ button that appears
